Data is at the heart of the modern economy and energy is what keeps our economy going. The access to abundant and affordable energy that is produced in a responsible manner is inextricably linked to economic development and well-being. The digital transformation of the energy industry leads to the collection of ever more data and the need for skilled talent. In this webinar we will hear from energy sector experts about how data is collected and how the results of data analysis are used to make meaningful changes.

Moderator:

Isabella Ruble is the CEO of Clover University and an economist at the U.S. Department of Energy. Isabella is passionate about data analytics, energy economics, and policy. Prior to this appointment she spent over 17 years in academia. She works on a wide variety of energy issues. Some of her more recent publications analyze the Brent-WTI spread, the U.S. crude oil refining industry, the role of natural gas in the EU and the problem of final disposal of U.S. spent nuclear fuel from commercial power plants. She is fluent in English, French and German.

Speakers:

Anna Broughel is a Director of Energy Leadership at a U.S.-based NGO Clean Energy Leadership Institute. In the past, we worked as energy economist at an engineering consulting firm Tetra Tech and as a fellow at the U.S. Department of Energy. She holds a PhD in economics and policy from the State University of New York in association with Syracuse University, where she was a Fulbright scholar. She completed her post-doctoral training at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland and at the University of Maryland, College Park. Since 2020, she has served as a council member for the U.S. Association for Energy Economics and has been a non-resident fellow at the University of Texas at Austin. She teaches graduate classes in artificial intelligence applications in business and digitalization at the Estonian Business School and energy economics at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University.

Matt Stanley joined Kpler in July 2022 after a twenty-year career in trading and broking. As Middle East Partnerships Lead, he works closely with clients providing advice and support across the energy sector. Matt was instrumental in supporting the launch of the AG fuel oil derivative contract in 2016 and continues to advise traders, exchanges, and PRAs across the sector. During his two decades in the energy market, Matt has worked as a trader for energy house Trafigura, as a director in London for Nigerian energy company Oando, and more recently was a director at the brokerage house Starfuels. Matt regularly appears as a commentator on energy for newspapers, radio, television, and newswires and sits on various panels as an energy industry expert.

Satyam Pryardarshy is Technology Fellow and Chief Data Scientist at Halliburton. He is also the Managing Director of Halliburton’s India Center. He often is recognized as the first Chief Data Scientist of the oil and gas industry. Recently Forbes India named him as one of the top 10 outstanding business leaders. His work or profile has appeared in many places including Chemical and Engineering News, The Scientist, Silicon India, Oil Review Middle East, Petroleum Review, Rigzone, Forbes among others. He is an author/co-author of over 35+ research papers, numerous patents, book chapters and expert opinion articles in magazines like Science. He is the recipient of many industry accolades and he is one of the most sought out invited speakers in areas of Emerging Technologies, Quantum mechanics, Cyber security and Blockchain, Big Data, Digital Transformation among others. The Society for Petroleum Engineers named him as the 2021-2022 SPE Distinguished Lecturer. He is also a Member of the Mauritius Artificial Intelligence Council, Republic of Mauritius. He is currently associated as an adjunct/visiting faculty at a number of universities and institutes in USA and India. Dr. Priyadarshy is also on the advisory board of a number of emerging entrepreneurial companies. He earned his PhD in Quantum/Theoretical Chemistry from IIT Bombay and an MBA from Virginia Tech.
