Association Webinars: Dennis J. O'Brien Virtual USAEE/IAEE Best Student Paper Competition

Congratulations to our Best Student Paper Award Winner: Megan Lang! Click here to read her paper, "Contracting for Electricity in Low Income Countries: the Role of Liquidity Constraints and Transaction Costs".

The Dennis J. O'Brien USAEE/IAEE Best Student Paper Competition webinar features the research of four students who were selected for the quality of their work. Papers were solicited from students in the spring, and a panel of judges selected four papers to present at this event. This competition is normally conducted at the annual USAEE/IAEE conference, but has been moved to an online format this year. Each of the presenters will have 15 minutes to present their work and 10 minutes for Q&A with the judges and audience. After the event, the judges will select a "Best Paper" winner from among the four, though all presenters receive a prize for the quality of their work.

The presentations will occur in this (randomly selected) order:

Xingchi Shen, University of Maryland
"Air-source Heat Pumps, House Prices, and its Implication for Electrification and Deep Decarbonization"

Alexandra Lüth, Copenhagen Business School (CBS)
"On Distributional Effects in Local Electricity Market Designs - Evidence from a German Case Study"

Megan Lang, University of California - Berkeley
"Contracting for Electricity in Low Income Countries: the Role of Liquidity Constraints and Transaction Costs"

Yuxian Xiao, Michigan State University
"Coping with Externally Imposed Energy Constraints: Competitiveness and Operational Impact of China's Top-1000 Energy-Consuming Enterprises Program"
