The International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2026 awards. Each year, the IAEE recognizes individuals and scholars whose work, service, and achievements have made significant contributions to the field of energy economics and to the broader energy community.
The 2026 awards celebrate excellence across the profession, including outstanding professional contributions, influential research and publications, and dedicated service to the IAEE. We are proud to recognize this year’s recipients and their valuable contributions to advancing energy economics and strengthening the IAEE community.
Outstanding Contributions to The Profession Award
Since 1981, the IAEE has awarded an annual prize for outstanding contributions to the field of energy economics and its literature.
Prof. Michael Pollitt
Cambridge University
This award recognizes Prof. Michael Pollitt for his outstanding contributions to the energy economics profession.
The Campbell Watkins Energy Journal Best Paper Award
In 1989, the IAEE’s Energy Economics Education Foundation instituted a "Best Paper" award for the paper designated as the most outstanding of the papers published in The Energy Journal the previous year. In 2005, the "Best Paper" award was renamed to "The Campbell Watkins Energy Journal Best Paper" award in recognition of Campbell Watkins' long standing support to the Association and its publications.

The Marcel Boiteux Best International Energy Economics Book Award
The Marcel Boiteux Best International Energy Economics Book Award, created in 2020, honors outstanding books that advance energy economics. Awarded since 2021 to living authors, it considers only books reviewed in both The Energy Journal and Economics of Energy & Environmental Policy. Presented at an IAEE International Conference, recipients deliver brief remarks. The award recognizes Marcel Boiteux’s lasting contributions to modern energy economics.

Outstanding Contributions to the IAEE
The IAEE periodically presents an award recognizing outstanding contributions to the Association. The award does not require a publication and is typically presented at an IAEE International Conference, where the recipient is invited to deliver brief remarks, usually anecdotal, lasting no more than five minutes.
