Leaders in Energy Economics Awards

IAEE’s awards program honors individuals and work that advance the field of energy economics and strengthen the profession. Through a peer-reviewed selection process led by an annual Awards Committee, IAEE recognizes excellence in research, service, and communication, celebrating contributions that shape scholarship, practice, and the global energy dialogue.

Outstanding Contributions to the Profession Award

Since 1981, the IAEE has awarded an annual prize for outstanding contributions to the field of energy economics and its literature.

Outstanding Contributions to the IAEE Award

As warranted, IAEE presents an award for outstanding contributions to the Association.

Journalism Award

In 1983, the IAEE instituted the IAEE Award for Excellence in Written Journalism on topics relating to international energy economics.

Marcel Boiteux Best International Energy Economics Book Award

This award is named in recognition of Marcel Boiteux's contribution to fundamental energy economics theory and its application.

Campbell Watkins Energy Journal Best Paper Award

Established in 1989 and renamed in 2005 in recognition of Campbell Watkins's support of the association and its publications, honors the year's top Energy Journal paper.

Economics of Energy & Environmental Policy Best Paper Award

In 2017 IAEE instituted a "Best Paper" award for the paper designated as the most outstanding regular paper published in EEEP.

Nominate a Candidate for an Award

Individuals recommending a candidate for one of these awards may send an email to the current IAEE Immediate Past President and/or IAEE Executive Director at any time. Please mention the individual’s name and substantiation for consideration of the award. The presentation of the IAEE awards is usually given by the Immediate Past President or the current IAEE President.
